Household Hazardous Waste
Management
HHW is defined as
any municipal solid waste, generated by a private residence in a community,
that is either a listed hazardous waste, or exhibits certain hazardous
characteristics. These characteristics are defined by state regulation, and
are based upon the ignitability, corrosivity, reactivity, and toxicity of
the material.

White Good Information
The white goods described below will be collected at curbside on the last
Friday of each month from January through September 30: The items are
refrigerators and freezers with doors removed, stoves, clothes washers,
clothes dryers, dish-washers, air conditioners, hot water heaters,
radiators, metal storm doors, metal file cabinets, metal fencing( rolled and
tied), metal sofa beds ( upholstery tied and placed with trash), auto tire
rims, metal auto parts (doors, bumpers), metal bed springs (not fabric
covered). Oil tanks require separate permits. Auto batteries must be taken
to the DPW Recycling Center.

Rent our truck and
remove your debris!
For trash/debris
removal a DPW truck is available for weekend rentals at $90 a day for a 3
yard truck and $200 for a 20 yard truck. Yard waste: branches should be
twined into small bundles; grass, leaves and other yard and garden waste
should be placed into biodegradable bags (not plastic)--pickup is either
Monday or Tuesday. Leaves are to be bagged for 9 months of the year, with
the exception of October, November and December, when they are to be swept
into the street for collection. For further information or questions please

General Information
1. The Bogota Public Works
Department provides residential curbside collection and disposal of household
garbage, refuse, and trash and the curbside collection of most recyclable
materials.
2. Recycling co-mingled
bottles and cans are collected every other Wednesday.
Newspapers and cardboard will be collected every
alternate Wednesday. Warning forms
will be issued if items are incorrectly out on the wrong
day!
3. Hazardous materials
and/or containers, appliances containing freon, mounted
tires, and human or animal excrement are NOT ACCEPTED OR
COLLECTED BY THE TOWNSHIP UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
4. Township residents,
showing proof of residency, may use the Recycling and
Convenience Center on Leonia Ave just north of Fort Lee
Road to dispose of excess garbage and trash from Bogota
homes; deposit recyclable materials and obtain free wood
chips and leaf mulch. The center is open from 7:30 AM to
3:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Only vehicles no
larger than 8,000 lbs. GVW are permitted.
5. NEW PROGRAM: Bogota
now recycles electronic equipment. This includes all
TVs, computers, radios, telephone systems, etc. Please
bring these items to the recycling center. They will not
be picked up curbside.

Collection Schedule
The Department of Public
Works provides various municipal services to the residents of Bogota all year
but is CLOSED ON NEW YEARS DAY, THANKSGIVING DAY and CHRISTMAS DAY. If your
collection day falls on one of these holidays, your collection will take place
on the next garbage day.
